finished four

i finished three more scarves and a large shawl. the size of the shawl (22 x 90) is my new favorite size! there is just so much fabric to work with and wrap yourself in. I put an auction item up on ebay too.

i was doing the finishing on these and rolling them for storage - and just kept thinking how it doesn’t seem like painting in a traditional sense -- it's painting with light! there isn't any feel on the silk when i'm all done, and every one of them is so luminous. it is just amazing to me - i never cease to wonder at the beauty of it.

scarves scarves scarves

i painted up a storm! i'm working on increasing my inventory significantly by mid-february. i applied for a spot at the Craftstravaganza! that is held at the mn state fair grounds in april. i'm totally excited to find out in a week if i get in. (it's a juried show.)

i painted this on [the first day of the] new year - more time in the studio - exactly what i wanted for christmas! (thanks honey!)

the kids have been fun and coming in and painting on their projects at the same time.

i'm back!

i'm back in the studio after a pretty bad accident. i'm not able to do a lot of painting that requires me to lift my arm very high, but it feels sooooo good to get back in here instead of being confined.

in mid december i fell while carrying a pot of boiling pasta to the sink and burned 25% of myself… i figure that I got really lucky, because it could have been so much worse. my small son was sitting on a stool right by where I fell and his clothes were also wet, but when my husband stripped off his clothes he was completely fine! Miracle!

i have another couple of months of healing to do and then i am likely looking at some surgery. my hands and eyes are good, so i'm able to work on my silk painting more than muralling right now - and that's cool. i really enjoy silk painting. this past weekend i tried some new techniques and experimented. rewarding!
